Ensuring that the storied legacy and long-standing values of the Xi Chapter of Psi Upsilon are upheld has always been central to the daily efforts of the undergraduate Brotherhood. An important element of this renewed commitment is the unveiling of the new official website for the Xi Chapter. The new site allows the undergraduates to communicate more closely with our many alumni and better interact with the Wesleyan community. Moreover, the new website of the Xi Chapter represents a great deal of hard work and dedication from the undergraduates and alumni and reflects the Xi Chapter’s standing as a premier chapter of Psi Upsilon Fraternity.
With the generous guidance and dedication of Brother Wilford Smith ’68, the Xi has been working closely with Crucial Networking, a professional web developing company, to design and develop a website that is informative, user-friendly, and indicative of our success as an organization. In addition to improving the quality of website design, the new website allows us to reach out to our alumni in ways previously impossible.
One such feature is the “Network” section of the site, which allows any alumnus with internet access to update his contact information and stay up-to-date with the activities of the Xi. The site also features a number of other sections that are designed to keep visitors well informed of the Xi’s active commitment to the University, Middletown, and furthermore, to the credo upon which Psi Upsilon was created. New features include an extensive Calendar that highlights alumni activities, as well as the various social events and service events that the Xi participates in. In addition, the site will feature a section that allows alumni to make electronic contributions to the Xi. As a Brotherhood, we appreciate the generosity of our alumni and are excited to show that their involvement is essential to our continued success as an organization.
Unlike the past, the undergraduates will have the ability to edit and manage website content extensively and in real time, without having to consult the website developers or webmasters. In turn, the Xi plans to make good use of this powerful new tool, by frequently publishing news stories and updating calendar events. In addition, this is especially useful in the recruitment process and in making the Xi more visible and accessible to the community at large.
Currently, plans are to officially unveil the new Xi Chapter website on Saturday, November 3. In many ways, the website launch is indicative of more good things to come. Given the Xi Chapter’s exceptional showing at the Psi Upsilon Convention in June of 2007, it is clear that the Xi has earned and deserves an internet tool as innovative and outstanding as the organization that it represents. Furthermore, the Xi’s new website allows us to further develop the goals outlined in the Bicentennial Initiatives. We strongly believe that the new website further enforces the notion that the Xi Chapter is a leader among Psi Upsilon chapters across the country and on the Wesleyan campus itself.
